Air, water and process-fluid filtration for buildings and manufacturing. Explore ten application routes, including commercial HVAC, controlled environments and laboratory utilities.

Discuss Your Application ↗
Select an application

Find the right duty. Define the right evidence.

These are representative application routes, not customer case studies or complete plant designs. Product links identify candidates for technical review, not verified interchangeable replacements or complete treatment systems.

Particle filtration / qualified filtration dutyProcess, treatment or storageVerification or decision

Start with the service, not the filter label.

Air and ventilation

Match the airflow, rack, sealing and specified test classification. Particle filters and gas-phase adsorbents perform different functions.

Water and process liquids

Separate suspended particles from dissolved contamination. Choose the required treatment functions and verify all materials against the actual fluid.

Critical applications

Define the intended use and acceptance evidence. A product family, material name or micron label alone does not establish clinical or sterile-process suitability.

Commercial HVAC & building ventilation

Outdoor dust, fibres and internally generated particles create different loads on an air-handling system. Select a filter that fits the rack and meets the required efficiency while preserving the designed airflow.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Air supplyOutdoor air plus permitted return air
  2. 02PrefiltrationIntercept the specified incoming dust load
  3. 03Air handlingCondition and move the air
  4. 04Final filtrationUse the grade specified for the system
  5. 05Occupied spaceDistribute the required supply air
  6. 06Operating checksVerify airflow, fit and filter condition
Return air → only the recirculation route permitted by the ventilation design. Exhaust → the designed discharge. Coil, fan and filter positions vary by unit; this map identifies functions, not their universal physical order.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Prefilter Manage loading on downstream components. Evaluate panel or other coarse-stage formats that seal correctly in the existing rack.
Final filter Meet the ventilation design’s particle target. Compare pocket or V-bank candidates using the specified test method and rated airflow.
Installation check Maintain the intended air delivery. Check bypass, fan capability and loaded-filter resistance before accepting an upgrade.

Process information to review

Building use; air-handler model; actual filter dimensions; filter quantity; airflow; available fan pressure; current efficiency classification; initial and final resistance; dust and moisture exposure.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request exact dimensions, efficiency classification and test method, rated-airflow resistance curves, recommended final resistance, frame/seal details and operating limits. Verify the fan and rack against the proposed selection.

Review exact-model documents before quotation or trial. The catalogue link does not imply that every required report is available.

Healthcare ventilation

A waiting area, a protective environment and an isolation room have different ventilation purposes. The filter schedule must follow the room’s function and approved facility design, alongside airflow direction and maintenance requirements.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Room-use reviewEstablish the approved ventilation purpose
  2. 02Supply-air preparationCondition air through designed stages
  3. 03Specified filtrationUse the required documented filter grade
  4. 04Controlled deliveryMaintain the designed room airflow
  5. 05Return / exhaust routeFollow the room-specific arrangement
  6. 06CommissioningVerify the complete installation
Isolation exhaust and protective-environment supply are different duties. Do not assume contaminated air may return to a shared system. Additional air cleaning does not replace required outdoor-air delivery or room-pressure control.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Supply stages Support the facility’s air-quality design. Review prefilters and final filters against the room schedule.
Critical final barrier Meet an explicitly specified performance. Consider an exact high-efficiency model only with the required test and installation evidence.
Facility acceptance Verify more than the filter label. Include the responsible engineering and infection-prevention teams in review and maintenance planning.

Process information to review

Room function; approved filter schedule; supply and exhaust drawings; pressure relationships; airflow; exact installed element; seal arrangement; required testing and safe change-out procedure.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request the room filter schedule, exact model test report, sealing details, maintenance instructions and required installed-system acceptance tests. The responsible facility team should confirm the applicable project requirements.

Review exact-model documents before quotation or trial. The catalogue link does not imply that every required report is available.

Cleanrooms & precision manufacturing

A cleanroom’s performance depends on particle sources, airflow, sealing and operating practices as well as its filters. Establish whether the purpose is product cleanliness, aseptic processing or another controlled manufacturing requirement.

  5. 05Approved return / exhaustFollow the engineered circulation route
  6. 06Qualification / monitoringVerify conditions in the required states
Permitted recirculation ↺ the designed air-handling circuit. Filter replacement, installation work or a process change may require reassessment under the site’s qualification programme.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Upstream protection Limit loading on final filters. Select prefilters compatible with the unit and service conditions.
Final filtration Control the specified airborne particle burden. Request the exact filter’s efficiency report, scan/leak-test documentation where required and sealing details.
System qualification Confirm the room performs as intended. Use the project’s qualification and monitoring criteria; a catalogue efficiency class does not certify a cleanroom.

Process information to review

Manufacturing activity; required environmental classification; occupancy states; airflow design; filter dimensions and seals; terminal versus central installation; test access; project acceptance documents.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request exact filter efficiency and leak-test evidence where specified, frame and seal drawings, installation and testing instructions, traceability and the room qualification plan. Do not convert between different rating systems using an assumed one-to-one equivalence.

Review exact-model documents before quotation or trial. The catalogue link does not imply that every required report is available.

Gas-phase & odour control

Particles and gaseous contaminants require different removal mechanisms. An activated-carbon air filter can be considered for a specified adsorption duty, but its useful life depends on the contaminant and exposure conditions.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Source assessmentIdentify the gas and exposure pattern
  2. 02Source / ventilation controlsAddress the origin and air route
  3. 03Particle protectionInclude where the system requires it
  4. 04Selected adsorbentMatch media to the gaseous target
  5. 05Performance checkMonitor the relevant outlet condition
  6. 06Planned replacementReplace before unacceptable breakthrough
Adsorbent selection may require a different medium or deeper bed than a light-duty carbon panel. Pressure difference indicates resistance, not remaining adsorption capacity. Odour perception alone is not a dependable exposure test.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Duty definition Identify what must be removed. Provide the target compound, concentration range and required outlet condition.
Adsorption stage Evaluate capacity in the actual service. Review a carbon-air candidate with gas-specific test data, humidity, temperature and contact conditions.
Scope check Avoid using the wrong equipment category. This is not a respirator, medical-gas purifier or universal hazardous-fume control system.

Process information to review

Target gas or odour source; measured concentration where available; airflow; humidity and temperature; exposure duration; permitted resistance; replacement and monitoring plan.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request target-gas capacity and breakthrough data for the selected adsorbent, operating humidity and temperature limits, airflow resistance, storage instructions and replacement criteria.

Healthcare facility water

Sediment prefiltration can protect equipment, but healthcare water quality also depends on storage, plumbing and the way water is used. Define the intended use before selecting treatment, especially where vulnerable patients or critical equipment may be exposed.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Use & risk reviewIdentify users, equipment and exposure
  2. 02Incoming-water assessmentReview source quality and variability
  3. 03Specified pretreatmentAdd particle control where justified
  4. 04Managed distributionInclude storage and plumbing controls
  5. 05Use-specific treatmentApply any separately qualified final barrier
  6. 06Monitoring & responseFollow the facility water programme
A local final barrier does not replace building-water management. Dialysis, clinical point-of-use protection and critical reprocessing water require their own documented requirements; no general catalogue cartridge is selected for those final duties.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Support prefiltration Control a defined incoming solids burden. Review PP or high-flow candidates for noncritical support duty, with appropriate contact documentation.
Use-specific quality Match treatment to the actual receiving equipment. Assess dissolved, microbial and other relevant targets separately.
Water management Address the building as a system. Use a facility-led programme covering control measures, monitoring and corrective action.

Process information to review

Intended use and patient-contact boundary; source analysis; plumbing and storage diagram; receiving equipment instructions; treatment targets; existing controls; required product approvals.

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request the receiving equipment’s water specification, model-specific contact/material and performance evidence, full wetted materials, operating limits and maintenance instructions. Critical-use claims need their own documented qualification.

Review exact-model documents before quotation or trial. The catalogue link does not imply that every required report is available.

Analytical laboratories • testing facilities • research utilities

Laboratory & analytical water

Instrument and analytical methods determine the required water quality. A low particle count does not demonstrate low dissolved ions, organics or endotoxins, and conductivity or resistivity alone cannot verify every purity attribute.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Method / instrument needDefine the full water specification
  2. 02Feed pretreatmentControl the identified feed contaminants
  3. 03Purification trainSelect the necessary RO, ion exchange or other stages

  5. 05Point-of-use finishApply a purpose-qualified final stage if needed
  6. 06Quality verificationTest the attributes relevant to the method
RO concentrate → the designed disposal or recovery route. Recirculation and sanitisation depend on the system. UV, ultrafiltration and final particle membranes serve different functions and are not universally required in every laboratory train.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Feed protection Protect the purification equipment. PP is a possible sediment-stage candidate only after the system’s feed requirements are established.
Purification Address the specified dissolved and biological attributes. Select purpose-designed technologies; a general cartridge does not make ultrapure water.
Final quality Preserve fitness for the analytical method. Use system-qualified final consumables and a monitoring plan suited to the required purity.

Process information to review

Analytical methods and instruments; complete purity specification; source water; daily and peak demand; storage and distribution; sanitisation; final-stage documentation.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request the instrument or method water specification, purification-system consumable requirements and evidence for the required ionic, organic, microbial or endotoxin attributes. Review storage and sanitisation compatibility.

Component cleaning • equipment washing • general manufacturing

Industrial washing & precision rinsing

Wash loops accumulate particles and other contamination from the parts being cleaned. Particle filtration can support bath cleanliness, while detergent condition, dissolved residues and oil contamination may need separate controls.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order

  2. 02Designed circulationTake flow through the selected treatment branch
  3. 03Particle removalSelect media for loading and cleanliness
  4. 04Return to washingMaintain the approved bath conditions
  5. 05Separate rinse / dryingUse the required rinse quality
  6. 06Part acceptanceVerify the specified surface cleanliness
Filtered wash liquid ↺ the wash bath. Rinse treatment is assessed separately. Oil separation or other bath treatment may be needed; a particle filter does not automatically remove dissolved detergent or emulsified oil.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Loading stage Capture debris without premature fine-stage blockage. Evaluate a compatible industrial bag when the solids load justifies it.
Fine particle stage Support the component cleanliness target. Trial PP media using representative wash fluid and particle loading.
Rinse boundary Avoid carrying wash contamination forward. Define rinse-water quality and surface acceptance independently. Medical-device reprocessing must follow its validated equipment and process requirements.

Process information to review

Part material; cleaning formulation; bath temperature; contamination type; circulation flow; part cleanliness test; rinse requirements; allowable product carryover; existing service life.

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request retention-test data, pressure-loss curves in representative fluid, complete wetted materials and cleaning compatibility. Agree bath and finished-part sampling, useful throughput and acceptance criteria before trial.

Pharmaceutical support • regulated manufacturing • process qualification

Critical liquid & sterile-process interfaces

A nominal pore-size label is not sufficient evidence for a sterile liquid process. The intended fluid, filter, operating conditions and downstream handling must be addressed within the process qualification.

Representative process mapRead in numbered order
  1. 01Product requirementDefine the intended quality and use
  2. 02Feed controlEstablish the permitted incoming condition
  3. 03Prefiltration if neededProtect the validated final stage
  4. 04Qualified final barrierUse documented product/process-specific performance
  5. 05Controlled downstream pathMaintain required conditions after filtration
  6. 06Quality releaseFollow the approved verification programme
This is a qualification overview, not a sterile-manufacturing recipe. Filter integrity evidence and microbial-retention validation must be appropriate to the selected process; finished-product appearance is not evidence of sterility.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Pretreatment Reduce loading where the process requires it. Even a support filter needs appropriate materials, extractables and quality documentation.
Final barrier Demonstrate performance in the actual process. Require validated retention and compatible integrity-test criteria for the exact filter and duty.
Catalogue boundary Keep product claims evidence-based. No generic liquid cartridge or beverage filtration claim is accepted here as proof of pharmaceutical sterile-process suitability.

Process information to review

Intended use; formulation; process conditions; filter function; validated operating envelope; extractables requirements; integrity-test method; downstream handling; quality-system documentation.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

No standard catalogue replacement is established for this duty. Submit the actual service conditions for review.

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request product/process-specific validation, microbial-retention and integrity-test correlation where applicable, extractables information, sterilisation compatibility, traceability and quality approval for the exact model.

Industrial compressed air & process gas

Compressed air may carry particles, liquid water, oil aerosols and vapour. These contaminants require different controls. Define the required quality at the point of use, rather than choosing a filter by connection size alone.

  5. 05Point-of-use protectionProvide the specified final duty
  6. 06Acceptance monitoringVerify pressure, dew point and required purity
Collected liquid → the controlled condensate route. Dryer and filter order depends on the selected system. Medical breathing air, oxygen service and critical sterile gas need separate purpose-qualified equipment and are outside this general industrial route.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Aerosols and particles Remove the specified physical contaminants. Request gas-service performance, pressure limits, drains and correct flow direction.

Product review Establish the exact replacement duty. No reviewed HVAC air filter or general liquid cartridge is preselected as a compressed-air replacement.

Process information to review

Gas identity; pressure and temperature; flow reference conditions; required particle, oil and moisture quality; installed train; drain arrangement; original element specification.

PARSWOOD™ product candidates

No standard catalogue replacement is established for this duty. Submit the actual service conditions for review.

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request rated gas-flow conditions, contaminant-removal tests, pressure and temperature limits, drainage instructions, seal compatibility and the complete treatment-train specification.

Chilled water • closed heating loops • cooling-tower support

HVAC water loops & general utilities

The water side of HVAC needs a different selection from the air side. Corrosion solids and suspended debris can be addressed by an appropriate particle stage, while corrosion, scaling and biological control remain separate water-management functions.

  6. 06Trend reviewTrack cleanliness and water condition
Side stream ↺ the same loop. The entire circuit is not implied to pass through this filter. Open cooling towers and closed glycol circuits require different chemistry and management; hot-water limits need explicit verification.

Conceptual treatment logic. Pumping, valves, controls and protective devices are not fully shown. Not an installation drawing.

Filtration stages & selection

Stage Purpose Approach to evaluate
Solids loading Reduce suspended debris in a defined branch. Review compatible bags, PP or a suitable high-flow element against the solids load.
Service compatibility Match the actual utility fluid. Check glycol, inhibitors, cleaning agents, temperature and seals.
Whole-loop control Maintain the separate treatment programme. Particle removal alone does not control dissolved salts, corrosion chemistry or microbial risk.

Process information to review

Open or closed loop; water or glycol composition; temperature; side-stream flow; solids analysis; current chemistry programme; pressure loss; housing and isolation arrangement.

Relevant documents & trial evidence

Request fluid analysis, element retention and pressure-loss data, wetted materials and temperature limits. Agree sampling, initial/terminal pressure difference, replacement and loop-maintenance criteria.
